The Scene

Named for the Hungarian term for "coffeehouse," this Soho spot serves renowned Jamaican Blue Mountain Estate coffee, as well as frozen cocktails, beer, milkshakes, smoothies, a tempting display of pretty pastries and simple cafe food until a half hour before closing. Live Dixieland, Latin and other jazz genres fill the space, which also serves as a sprawling gallery for artists, often with a musical focus.

The Draw

A comfy spot for groups, especially when some want to eat and some don't, and a place where even non-drinkers feel at home. Daters looking to converse with some background sounds can sit farther from the stage and talk over a pot of chocolate fondue, without feeling rude to the musicians or those there for the jazz alone. There's never a cover, so drop in a few when the bucket goes 'round.

Lazy Afternoons

Catch lunch and a Saturday set from 2:30pm to 5:30pm, or go Sunday from 4pm to 7pm.

Like It Latin

Hit the bar Wednesday between 8:30pm and 12am for Latin jazz, usually with Ray Vega.
