Nice room, abit too far from Times Square, Staff RUDE

Our room was nice, very large, don't think you are getting a kitchen, the kitchen is a fridge and a microwave. You don't even get plates, knifes or forks.Staff a just plan rude. They could not find our internet booking to start with, were rude when we asked for a hotel directory. We were asked why do you need one of them. It's helpful to know checkout time, where the ice machine and telephones are located. I was told just to ask at the front desk.We asked about restuarants and were told the most expensive places close by.For breakfasts we went to the supermarket that is down the road near the Hardrock cafe. It's great, close and has a large range. Hardrock has great food.Next time we go we will stay a little closer to Times Square. By the end of the day we were very tired from walking.
Wonderful stay, perfect location, excellent hotel

My wife and I spent the weekend in NYC, and our stay at the Salisbury was near perfect. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The doorman will gladly help you get a cab, and also store your luggage if needed after you check out. The room was very clean and spacious, even by NY standards. It is so close to everything, such as Carnegie Hall, 5th Avenue, Central Park, and the subway for starters. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but there are only about a thousand places to eat nearby. Shelly's (across the street, you can't miss it) is highly recommended, as well as a little Italian place next door that I can remember the name of. They sometimes have special rates on their web site, ***********, or check travelocity. This hotel is great!
No breakfast

Visited New York for 4 days in early August, 2003. Stayed at Salisbury and enjoyed its great location and large living area with separate bedroom. Great for our four member family. Absence of continental breakfast, which is still shown as an amenity or feature on several websites, really hacked me off as they don't acknowledge that reality at all at the desk. Anyway, there are several nice places near for a good breakfast - new one almost next door. Overall, New York is much cleaner and people are a whole lot friendlier than when my wife lived there in the 70s. Enjoy. The only other thing is the front desk personnel were not real helpful with dinner recommendations when we were looking for a little less expensive family place. Saw some later down 7th and down Broadway but did not find them when we needed them.
