I was a little worried about these reviews, but we stayed there in October of 2003 and it was fine. Older, but clean -- staff was nice. We didn't pay a lot, but it was as good as the Mayflower, the Helmsley Windsor, and the Park Lane, all of which we stayed at in the past year.
 Great City Average Hotel

This Hotel is very central to having a great time in New York, The only down side is the rooms need to be decorated and modenised as the room we stayed in looked nothing like the picture we was shown prior to booking.I would really point out that this Hotel is great just for a weekend but we really would not have wanted to stay any longer unless we had a better room.

We stayed Empire hotel for 3 nights on early June 03 for the purpose to enjoy the ABT at Lincoln center. I checked former reviews of this hotel and worried about dusty room. So, I said at check in, 'I would like clean room because we will stay for 3 nights, not only one night'. But the room was enough clean and air-conditioner was working and front was friendly. That was very convenient and comfortable for us more than we expected as this $99 per night. If you worry about the reputation of this hotel, you should say it at check in. you can get clean room.
