The Carlton Hotel hotel description>>

A FEW PROBLEMS
Reviewer: New York visitor, Alberta , Canada

When we checked in price they tried to charge was much higher then agreed price given by central reservations. After about 1 15 minute heated conversation they only gave in because I was staying six nights. Pop machine and ice machine difficult and inconvient to finds. Promised daily paper and coffee , got 2 papers in six days and they never had coffe available. Under construction (which I read about before booking) but never expected Jack Hammers at 7- 8 AM. Room was howver very nice.

Hotel is under construction. When my wife and I arrived at the hotel(? ), got out of the taxi l,there was no doorman in sight. There are two level of steps to get to the front desk. A so called doorman watched as I carried two heavey pieces of luggage up the steps. I asked where the restrooms were and was informed there were not any in the lobby. and none we could use. From then on it went down hill. The hotel personnel were rude and really didn't care. Worst experience I have ever had in any hotel in the world.

'Just returned a few days ago direct from a 4-night stay at The Carlton.Well, here's the scoop:To get your ice bucket filled, you'll have to take it down to the lobby and do it yourself. There are NO lids to their ice buckets. The window shades only go one way, and do NOT return: down.Be prepared to check on the daily cleaning, or not, of your bathroom, including the toilet.Be prepared for at least one entire light outlet to go dead entirely.Expect to ask for the following, as they are NOT provided except upon demand: a clock radio, AND the traditional door handle "service-no-service" hanger.TV reception is poor; channel section is okay. There are NO "frette sheets" per their online advertising. As my companion put it: "Yes, they have 'Fred-sheets; Fred sleeps in the sheets."One has to forego some things when an establishment is undergoing construction, I guess . . . . Lying and deceiving, and fraudulent advertising are NOT ones I go along with for ANY reason . . . !!!!Good luck in raising the help on the phone after 10 PM . . .The good news about the place???The beds, the mattresses, and the towels: simply the best ever!!!!With such super perfect mattresses and towels, I was willing to overlook "Fred's sheets!"TV channel 29 was VERY interesting, and free, too!
