Having twice been to New York and loved the place, staying first in W57th St and then in Lexington Avenue at more expensive hotels, I cannot fault this hotel in any way. We booked through Expedia 4 nights from November 5th 2003 at £105 per room per night including continental breakfast of delicious bagels you coud toast for yourself and have with cream cheese or jam..or pastries or sometimes muffins, with unlimited 24hr tea and coffee in the 4th floor breakfast room, plus a vending machine on 7th floor with sodas, snacks and even headache pills! We would take the tray from our room and load up for breakfast in our lovely bright and spacious room every morning, altho the breakfast room gets busy from 8am, we were told..we were there at 7am and it was a haven of peace.. It's spotless, spacious, friendly, efficient, and as a previous reviewer mentioned, our room on the 10th floor had two windows facing the Empire State building. What a view! Yes, the surrounding area of quite shabby fronted shops selling perfume and low price clothing is a bit overwhelming at times when the street is crowded with colourful locals shopping for bargains and selling fake designer bags, but never hassling you. they ask once and take no as your answer. We were three Scots women in our 50's and we felt completely safe and at home here. True, you get a fab atmosphere uptown, but from here you can easily walk up to Times Square or hop on 28th St subway right at the corners of the street beside the hotel and go anywhere, using the subway map to navigate, which we got the hang of easily. We asked directions a few times and everyone was so friendly! Also you can walk downtown too, right into Greenwich village and onwards down to Battery Park ..soaking up the sights and sounds. We found this location much better than we'd expected to. I'd go back to Broadway Plaza in a minute. The staff arranged our car back to the airport and their chosen company was first rate at $45, much the same price as our yellow cab, which was $43+$8 tolls and tip.. from Newark Airport. JFK is much the same.We met lots of fellow Brits who also love this place. One American chap was complaining that the 2 lifts ( only one going beyond 7th floor to 12th at top) weren't adequate, but to be fair, we never waited very long at all, and have waited far longer at priceier places.Go there. It's fab. Hope you have a fantastic trip, as we did!
I have stayed at the Broadway Plaza many many times and I love it. It is in the heart of the Perfume District.....some good bargains there. The rooms are really good. Do not be swayed by its surrounding areas..this is a great place to stay.
My husband and I stayed at the Broadway Plaza hotel for 2 nights from Sept. 6 - 8 for our Anniversary. We had a fab room (that was very spacious and clean) on the 12th floor with a great view of the Empire States Building. The hotel staff was amazing, they totally 'bent over backwards' for us. I highly recommend staying here....and the rates are very good too! The surrounding neighbourhood was a little overwhelming at first, but we got used to it very quickly. The shopping was wonderful, great deals in that particular area. This was the ultimate experience for us. Another thing I can recommend, is buying an 'All route' pass on the double decker bus, just outside the Empire States Building for $50. It's good for 2 days and you can hop on and off wherever you like, with a new bus coming to pick you up every 10 minutes! |
