The Avalon hotel description>>

Nice little gem, not quite a diamond!
Reviewer: New York visitor, Southampton, UK

Stayed here for three nights in November. Booked a junior suite (good internet rate with Opodo). On check-in, we were allocated a superior room (accidentally ??), but this was quickly changed to a suite when we pointed out the error. Room was large and clean, marble bathroom very large with bath and separate shower. Only criticisms were that the sitting area was very drafty (no nice views) and the heating/airconditioning noisy and had a mind of it's own ! Apart from that the hotel has a cosy little bar and provides good complimentary breakfast and also one free glass of champagne. It is ideally situated for Macy's, Empire State and Times Square, and the elevator arrives promptly unlike the Hilton ! Staff seemed friendly enough, We would definitely consider staying there again.

Beautiful, comfortable stay

Our room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. We didn't really think the hotel could be as nice as the pictures suggested, but it was even better. We had a huge, marble bathroom with separate tub and shower, plenty of room, and a refrigerator. It was clean. Our friends also had a great view of the Empire State building from their room, and an Internet connection. Staff was always pleasant and helpful. The free breakfast is a nice add-on. Subway is convenient to the hotel. I can't imagine staying anywhere else on my next visit.

Overall a nice place to stay

We just got back from a week long stay at the Avalon. We booked our reservation there based on the reviews of the hotel from this site. We were very pleased with our stay, and found it consistant with the earlier reviews posted on this site. We had a King Size Executive Suite. Our room was spacious, very quiet, and clean. We especially liked our little sitting room which we affectionately called "The Parlor". We found the staff polite and helpful. My only critisism is that our carpet was stained and was in great need of a good shampoo and cleaning. Otherwise we were happy with every aspect of our stay. We would definately stay there again.
