The Scene

Enter the shimmering LVMH building on 57th Street, get a special pass from security, then zoom on up to the sister spa to Marcia Kilgore's outrageously popular Soho beauty mecca. This one's smaller, but with a more high-tech look: ultrasuede walls in the waiting room, a definite high-rise feel and stunning views. The crowd is more Upper East Side mavens and midtown execs than Soho scenesters--and splurging tourists, of course. It's one of the most expensive spas in the city, so who knows who you'll find sipping white wine in the waiting room.

The Services

Many of the signature Bliss services have made it north of 14th Street: numerous facials (the Basic runs $95), countless peel/mask/oxygen add-ons, microdermabrasion (for face, body and feet), cellulite blasters, body massages (or "Blissages"), the Lemon Peel body scrub and waxing (using the pretty painless Poetic Wax). Because of space constraints, the celebrated hot cream manicures and pedicures are only offered in conjunction with a facial. There is a wet room, though, so body treatments like the "Ginger Rub" and "Mineral Rub" are available

Low-down on the "Rub"-down

Great for fighting colds and relaxing muscles, the "Ginger Rub" entails a full body scrub with grated ginger and essential oils (which heat up pretty quickly), a 20-minute foil-wrap "bake," removal of the scrub and a 100-minute massage-$200 a pop.

All in the Family

With the purchase of Bliss in 1999, the spa joins designer houses Celine, Givenchy and Christian Dior as part of the LVMH (Louis Vuitton-Moet Hennessy) family. The company plans to help spread Bliss all over the world; London is rumored to be next.
